What TV is right for me?

This is a question we hear regularly at Colorado Media Systems. The answer
unfortunately can seem complicated! Is a plasma right? What about a rear-projection
DLP? And how about a LCD TV? With so many options, we understand why the choice
can seem daunting. The very best way to know for sure what technology is right for
you is to have a conversation and possibly schedule a consultation. Depending on the
size of the TV desired, lighting conditions and seating positions, CMS can help you to
decide what is right for you and right for your budget.

As a general rule, the amount of light coming into your room is one of the largest
deciding factors. If you have a great deal of light in your living room, we may steer you
towards a LCD TV. If you have a room that has pretty good light control or the windows
mostly face north, a rear-projection TV may be just the ticket.

What about size? This can depend on what kind of TV you are frequently watching.
For HDTV signals, the seating distance is typically 2 to 2.5 times the screen’s diagonal
size. For instance, with a 42” plasma, the recommended seating distance is between
84 and 105 inches. This is for the most cinematic feel when watching your TV.

This of course is only the starting point for your entertainment system. There is also
sound, HDTV, video games, music… the list can go on and on depending on your
wants and needs. Colorado Media Systems is happy to share these tips with you and
show you options for your own entertainment systems setup. Please call us to
